Radiobomb: Stupid Clean Powered Monitors finished
The goal of these monitors was to design a self powered speaker that is light, loud, yet full sounding with great detail and thunderous bass! These speakers has accomplished this goal.
SOUND 201: “The Golden Acoustic Ratio” Part 2
If you have ever been by water and watch how it flows, you can see how different disturbances, such as throwing a rock, a duck swimming thru, even a mosquito landing, can affect the flow of the water. Water is a medium that can transfer energy and that is exactly what a sound wave is. So now imagine your room like a swimming pool, and if there are multiple disturbances, the flow of the water is very choppy and not as smooth. This is what you hear when you are recording so having an untreated room is disastrous when you try to master any type of audio.
Many mistakes new producers have is believing that they can guess what frequencies their room favors or changes by ear. You know what is going on in your room but you will never have as clean of a mix down as you would in a treated room. Believe me, I finally built a dedicated studio for mastering and the difference is night and day.
Second, proper room measurements can greatly reduce room reflections, also know as reverb. For near field monitoring, the golden acoustic ratio is not as significant. I noticed, by way of personal experience, that less bass heavy music with a few samples seem to translate pretty well, but once you get a full track with the whole spectrum of frequencies, that is when you get issues of mix down levels.

Teaching Ableton Live 9: Irving Magnet School Part 2
As you know, I believe that we, Irving Magnet School, is the only school in LAUSD, that teaches Ableton Live 9 as an elective. I have checked other school websites and have not seen any other school that does what we do so far. I have taught after school clubs how to deejay using turntables and/or hercules rmx plus music production using Cubase and Reason, but never during the actual school day. As an educator, I know that innovating a program at school is very difficult to do because of all the rules and regulations you have to follow, but what is harder to do is to teach students how to use technology and music theory/arrangement at the same time; especially if they have no musical background. Saying all that, below I have some examples of student remixes of tracks. Final mastering software is not available in our class because of budget, but I have been teaching mastering techniques to each student to help enhance their tracks. Students have been taught how to use compression, limiters, reverb, and equalizing There is a lot more to teach and learn but students are picking up the program and how music is programmed and arranged. These are some of the better productions that have been recorded so far to this point. Enjoy!!!!
